<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce and restore an information quantity without revising time management information relating to a stream format and synchronization control in the case of selecting one program or over from a transport stream where a plurality of programs are multiplexed and recording and reproducing the selected programs. SOLUTION: In the case of selecting and recording one program or over from a transport stream TS packet stream where a plurality of programs by the packet conversion processing system, a packet identifier PID detection section 3 compares PID information in a TS packet storing the selected program with PID information of a TS packet received at present. In the case of detecting a non-selection packet, a null packet generating section 4 converts the detected non-selection packet into a null packet and records no payload information of the converted null packet on the basis of a TS control signal 16 from an enable generating section 2 so as to realize the reduction in the recorded information quantity. Moreover, controlling a read time of a memory section 8 can restore the payload information of the reproduced null packet.</p> |
