PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating film forming method of forming a coating film having a novel design exhibiting attractive visual effect such as stereoscopic glittering feeling, shining feeling or pearl-like gloss in addition to the maintenance of excellent weather resistance, corrosion resistance and finishing property which are the features of electrodeposition coating on a metal made article to be coated. SOLUTION: The multiple layer coating film forming method is performed by electrodeposition coating on the metal made article to be coated with a colored cationic electrodeposition coating material (A), applying a clear coating material (B) containing a glittering pigment on the surface of the electrodeposition coated film uncured or cured by heating, and curing the uncured electrodeposited coating film and the clear coating film or the clear coating film.
