<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exciting method for a self-excited generator for supplying a field inrush current when a short-circuit fault occurs in the load of the generator, and for preventing a rapid increase in the terminal voltage of the generator when the fault is released. SOLUTION: This exciting method for a self-excited generator 1 is provided with a self-excited generator 1; a first exciting means for exciting a field circuit 2 from a battery 3; a second exciting means for exciting the field circuit 2 from a power converter 8; an automatic voltage regulator 6 which detects the output Vs of the generator, controls a field current Ifc via the power converter 8, and controls the output Vs of the generator; and a control means which uses the first exciting means when a voltage detector 5 detects a short- circuit malfunction of the load of the generator. When the short-circuit malfunction occurs in the load, the output value Vm of the voltage regulator 6 is held as a value Vm0 of an output generated immediately before the malfunction, and the voltage regulator 6 starts control from the held value Vm0 when the malfunction of the load is eliminated.</p> |
