PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved mechanical key or a connector for joining spacer member ends in multi-pane window units. SOLUTION: The connector key is used for joining spacer ends in multi-pane window units. The connector key and the method for joining spacer ends are provided. The connector key can include the top central depression, side walls having the top gap, and the horizontal shoulder having a channel and the concave part, and provide an opportunity for flowing from the central hollow over the side area of the connector key. Furthermore, the connector key has a hole for passing through the bottom floor of the central depression to the bottom and the bottom channel of the connector key.
