摘要

The invention pertains to a novel composition comprising guaifenesin tanna te and to a method for preparing guaifenesin tannate by reacting guaifenesin wi th tannic acid at a temperature above the melting point of guaifenesin. The guaifenesi n tannate has extended release properties and is useful in pharmaceutical compositions as an expectorant in warm-blooded animals or as a muscle relaxant in non-human animals.
