PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a password leakage preventing method capable of preventing a third person from knowing the content of a password even if the transmission signal of the password to be transmitted is received by the third person and subjected to analysis by a key stroke pattern, and a terminal device having password leakage preventing function. SOLUTION: This method comprises temporarily storing the input signal of the password inputted by keying from the input means of the terminal device in a storage means, and transmitting the temporarily stored input signal of the password as a transmission signal having a random signal interval. This terminal device comprises the input means for inputting the password by keying, a storage means for temporarily storing the input signal of the inputted password, a signal interval converting means for converting the temporarily stored signal of the password to the transmission signal having the random signal interval, a communication means for transmitting the converted transmission signal to a host device, and a control means.
