PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized ultrasonic phantom capable of evaluating the performance of ultrasonic systems by fairly in-depth imaging and measurement. SOLUTION: A ultrasonic Doppler flow phantom is presented, which contains a tissue imitating material having a plurality of channels injected with fluid. The channels are made of tubes that extend at different angles along various depths of different parts of the phantom. Each channel is separately accessed by a probe positioned at simulated skin surface located at the upper part of the phantom. As a result, the performance of the probe can be evaluated over a very wide range from a shallow depth to a very deep depth and over several flow angles. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
