PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclone type canister-based electric vacuum cleaner which can simplify a mold while improving dust collection efficiency. SOLUTION: The body 1 of the canister-based vacuum cleaner is provided with a cyclone type dust box 2. In the dust box 2 as a hollow cylindrical container, an intake pipe is arranged protruding on the side thereof and an opening on the tip side of the intake pipe is formed almost near the center across the width of the dust box 2. A guide rib is installed being extended in the direction along the internal surface of the dust box 2 near an opening on the root side of the intake pipe in the internal surface of the dust box 2 to guide air flowing into the dust box 2 through the intake pipe to the direction in which the cyclone generated in the dust box 2 flows.
