<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicular opening/closing body capable of positively stopping the opening/closing body (a sliding door) in a prescribed position. <P>SOLUTION: This control device has a drive motor for outputting rotational power to put a door body in sliding movement; a pulley journalled to an output shaft of the drive motor; a wire engaged with the pulley and connected to the door body; and a pulse encoder for outputting a pulse signal corresponding to the rotating speed of the pulley. A pulse count value in the fully opened position of the door body, and a pulse count value in a half-latched position are determined on the basis of the output signal from the pulse encoder. On the basis of the pulse count values, control of half-latched stop and fully opened stop is performed, and in the case of detecting the insertion of an obstacle in a prescribed range before reaching the pulse count value of the fully opened position during the opening direction operation of the door body, '2' is added to the pulse count value obtained when detecting the insertion, and the door body is reversed.
