PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distillation apparatus which is excellent particularly when liquid wood vinegar, or the like, is purified easily at a low cost at a facile place other than facilities of a factory. SOLUTION: A heating means is arranged for heating and evaporating a stock solution fed to the bottom of a vertical cylindrical still, an intermediate pan is arranged upward almost in the intermediate part of the still for receiving a distillate and the top of the still is formed into an inverted cone-shaped ceiling wall for storing cooling water on the top surface side of the wall so that the stock solution evaporated from the bottom of the still is brought into contact with the wall and condensed as the distillate, and the distillate is made to flow down into the intermediate pan along the undersurface of the wall.
