<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging component using a compensation film for a vertically aligned liquid crystal cell to improve the viewing angle characteristic of a display. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging component includes a vertically aligned nematic liquid crystal cell, a polarizer and the compensation film containing an aligned positive birefringent material having the optical axis tilting within a plane perpendicular to the surface of the liquid crystal cell. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
