PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording apparatus or the like capable of recording music information or the like on a recording medium so as to reduce the cost of information reproducing apparatuses resulting in reducing the cost of an information recording and reproducing system to attain wide use and reproducing the music information or the like after distribution in a manner of protecting the music information or the like in compliance with the Copyright Act by distinguishing the music information or the like from other music information items.

SOLUTION: Distribution information received via a network is encoded by an encoding system decodable by multiple kinds of players to obtain encoded distribution information, when the distribution information including reproduction control information is distributed, applied reproduction control information for controlling a reproduction mode in actual reproduction is generated on the basis of the reproduction control information, and the applied reproduction control information and the encoded distribution information are recorded on an optical disk DK. Further, when the distribution information is recorded, attribute information denoting it is recorded together with the encoded distribution information.
