<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for weaving a double-layer fabric, improved so that formation of disadvantageous wrinkles is avoided or reduced. <P>SOLUTION: This method for weaving the double-layer fabric (1, 2) is particularly used in producing the fabric for an air bag. The loom is equipped with an extender (4) positioned immediately after a beating peripheral area (30) between a weaving sley (3) and a beam (10), a turning element (5') for the fabric (1, 2), and a drive roller (6). The woven fabric comprising both layers of a lower fabric (2) and an upper fabric (1) is moved by the drive roller, or by using another suitable means, and separated from the beating peripheral area, so that the lower fabric (2) and the upper fabric (1) receive enough symmetrical force. The fabric positioned in the extender is passes through a clearance (440) between two fixed surfaces, pulled out from the clearance by overcoming frictional resistance, and simultaneously extended (45) by a cross-extender in the direction crosswise to traveling direction of the fabric. The fabric is driven by the drive roller and additionally by a rotary press roller (5) for assisting the drive roller, wherein the press roller forms the turning element and cooperates with the drive roller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
