<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the knocking, to reduce the fuel consumption, and to clean an exhaust gas in an internal combustion engine comprising a supercharger such as an exhaust turbo supercharger 11 or a mechanical supercharger, and a head-side intake port 6 with an intake valve 8 mounted on a top part of a cylinder 2 for guiding the compressed intake from the supercharger into the cylinder, and applying the swirl flow E or tumble flow E' to the intake from the heat-side intake port 6 into the cylinder. <P>SOLUTION: The cylinder 2 is provided with a cylinder-side intake port 10 opened when a piston 4 is downwardly moved near a bottom dead center, a supercharging passage 17 from the supercharger 11 is connected to the cylinder-side intake port 10, and further the swirl flow F or the tumble flow F' is applied to the intake from the intake port into the cylinder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
