PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a apparatus for precisely and quickly carrying out ultrasonic blood flow photographing, and volumetric flow rate calculation. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic photographic method and system use a 2D array transducer scanning head coupled to beam generator. The beam generator and the scanning head obtain signals responding to supersonic echoes reflected from a measure volume extending through a blood vessel. The signals are processed by the Doppler processor for generating data responding to a 3D Doppler image of blood flow rate in sample volume, and processed by the B mode processor to generate data responding a cross section passing through the blood vessel. The image processor converts data responding to the 3D Doppler image to data responding to projection onto the plane of the 3D Doppler image. The image processor combines the converted Doppler data with B mode data to form combined image. Volumetric flow rate can be also determined by integration of projected flow rate of 3D Doppler image.
