The present invention is related to a method to operate a steam turbine (1), the steam turbine (1) comprising at least a first turbine module (10) with a first stage (11) and at least one second stage (12), wherein the stages (11, 12) are successively arranged in the flow direction (2) of the steam, a main inlet (13) for channelling steam to the first stage (11) and a bypass (14) arranged parallel to the main inlet (13) for channelling steam to the at least one second stage (12).
