PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new self-adhesive cationic or amphoteric polyurethane and its use for cosmetics. SOLUTION: The self adhesive cationic or amphoteric polyurethane has at least one tertiary or quaternary amine functional group and an equal to 11N or larger self-adhesive value [represented by a maximum tensile force (F<SB>max</SB>(N))] which is recorded when being separated by pulling two circular surfaces of 0.95 cm<SP>2</SP>coated with the urethane). Further, these self adhesive cationic polyurethane is used for cosmetics, particularly a styling composition. In addition, the cosmetic composition is applied to hair and then the styling method comprises rinsing hair, forming and drying the rinsed hair. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
