PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a formed object that is light in weight and shaped in a substantially free manner. SOLUTION: The formed object serves as an artificial pond arranged on a rooftop garden, and is formed by laminating foamed polystyrene thick plates 1 by joining upper and lower thick plates 1 together. Each thick plate 1 is cut before lamination to give the upper and lower surfaces of the thick plate 1 the shapes that form the sectional outline of the target artificial formed object at both upper and lower surface levels in each corresponding laminated position of the thick plate 1.
