PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column device with superior support rigidity and energy absorbing capacity, capable of providing stable sliding resistance of proper magnitude with little deformation in a second column member. SOLUTION: A cavity 25 is provided in an outer circumference of the second column member 2 of the steering column device 100, and a frictional member 6 is housed in the cavity 25. In a secondary collision, by sliding of an inner face of a first column member 1 and the frictional member 6, collision energy is absorbed. The frictional member 6 is provided with elasticity by molding a metal plate, and stable energy absorbing performance can be provided by the elasticity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
