PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure quality of a commodity through improvement of packaging quality and reduce its cost by providing a structure in which a commodity holding force attained by the packaging using a cardboard member can be easily adjusted in response to the commodity. SOLUTION: There is provided a packaging component in which a cardboard member is bent in a predetermined direction, a commodity is held in its suspended state from a side wall in a vertical direction enclosing side surfaces of the commodity and then an external shock applied to the commodity is dampened. The packaging component is comprised of a commodity mounting section on which the commodity is mounted; side walls extending from an opposed side surface of the commodity mounting section toward a vertical top surface to enclose the side surfaces of the commodity; and a suspending section formed to be bent back at a top turning back section cooperating with the side wall so as to be supported through side walls in such a way that the commodity mounting section is held in its suspended state. The top turning back section is provided with both a chevron-shaped section and a cutting section alternatively along a folding line. A feature of this component consists in the fact that an appropriate commodity holding force can be attained by adjusting a length of the chevron-shaped section and the cutting section, respectively.
