<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize quality enhancement of reflecting and semi-transmissive LCDs. <P>SOLUTION: A reflecting electrode 44 which is connected with TFTs (thin film transistors) 110 and reflects light to be made incident by transmitting a second electrode 250 consisting of an ITO, etc., from the side of a second substrate 200 is provided on an insulation film that covers the TFTs 110 as switching elements provided by every pixel on a first substrate 100. The surface of the reflecting electrode 44 is covered with the insulation film 46, a work function similar to that of the second electrode 250 is provided and a first electrode 50 consisting of transparent conductive materials such as the ITO is formed on the insulation film 46. Capacity of the first electrode 50 is coupled with that of the reflecting electrode 44 and voltage according to display contents is impressed from the reflecting electrode 44. Capacity (second capacity) of the first electrode 50 and the reflecting electrode 44 is preferably made sufficiently large to liquid crystal capacity (first capacity). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
