<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transaction device and its method capable of suppressing third person's illegal use while protecting user's privacy and having high safety. <P>SOLUTION: A permission/rejection information discrimination part 32 reads, from a card owned by a user, permission/rejection information indicating whether image pickup of a face is to be permitted. When the image pickup is permitted, the face of the user performing an operation is picked up by a CCD camera 12.
