PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool with at least a table, a spindle device and a tool changer inside a peripheral cover for preventing chippings produced during cutting machining from depositing on the tool changer while flying from a work in a wide range of the peripheral cover. SOLUTION: A cover body 21 for upwardly covering the tool changer and the spindle device at a site above the table is constituted of a front plate 22 and two lower plates 23, 23. Both lower plates 23, 23 in the state of being arranged side by side in properly spaced relation are locked to the lower edge of the front plate 22 with screws 28, whereby the cover body 21 is formed into an approximately L-shape in a side view. With the configuration of both lower plates 23, 23, a void 25 is formed between both side-by-side lower plates 23, 23, as an opening through which a tool mounted at the lower end of a spindle of the spindle device is inserted.
