<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a polyphase stepping motor having a function of accurate micro-step driving with less vibration up to a high-velocity revolution range with stability. <P>SOLUTION: A drive unit for permanent-magnet stepping motor comprises an inverter containing a current control portion for passing stepwise currents through windings of a motor, and a position sensor for detecting the position of the rotor of the motor. On a rotating coordinate system wherein the direction of the magnetic flux of the rotor in the motor is taken as a d-axis and the direction orthogonal to the d-axis is taken as a q-axis, the drive unit determines an exciting angle according to command values for the d-axis component and the q-axis component of motor exciting currents. The drive unit thereby controls the phase of a voltage applied to the stepping motor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
