<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robust system of processing natural language for outputting the result of partial analysis meaningful as a result of analysis even if the analysis of a whole sentence fails. <P>SOLUTION: A value of cost is previously defined according to the degree of unity as one sentence for each kind of phrase structures. When the result of analysis of sentence structure and meaning of a whole sentence cannot be obtained, the values of cost of the phrase structure included in the file of results of partial analysis are added up, and the unity as one sentence which each candidate of the file of results of partial analysis has is calculated as cost. The file of results of partial analysis whose cost is the lowest is outputted as the result of the analysis of meaning/sentence structure. When there are a plurality of candidates, the candidate with the largest cost effective difference/ sum is selected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
