<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement compressor wherein a steep variation of the discharge displacement is prevented, while the responsiveness at the time of stating is enhanced, the installing efficiency is enhanced, and miniaturization of the device is promoted. <P>SOLUTION: The variable displacement compressor is structured so that a valve plate part is interposed between a cylinder head and a cylinder block, a discharge chamber and a suction chamber are formed between the valve plate part and the cylinder head while a crank chamber is formed between the valve plate part and the cylinder block, a displacement control valve is installed on the way of a discharge pressure supplying passage leading from the discharge chamber to the crank chamber, and that an orifice is provided on the way of a pressure relief passage leading from the crank chamber to the suction chamber, whereby the pressure of the crank chamber is adjusted by opening and closing the displacement control valve for controlling the piston stroke, wherein the orifice is formed in the valve plate part, and an orifice control means to control the section area of the orifice at the time of starting so that it is larger than that of the orifice during the displacement control operation is formed in such an arrangement that a reed valve extending to over the orifice is fixed with a certain gap reserved with respect to the valve plate part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
