SOLUTION: The use right possessed by a content holder server 6 is provided to a license server 4. The license server 4 divides the use right provided from the content holder server 6 to, for example, a use right for only reproduction and a use right including reproduction and checkout. The client I acquires the use right of reproduction by paying 10 yen. The client I further acquires the use right including reproduction and checkout by paying 30 yen. Namely, the use right for only reproduction is graded up to the use right including reproduction and checkout. This invention can be applied to a server for providing contents through a network.
