<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of clients to be housed, even if a stream distribution apparatus is deluged with access from clients. <P>SOLUTION: A client attributes table 12 holds a client ID, speed level, connection time, priority and state for each client which is presently connected to the stream distribution apparatus 1. When a new client is connected, a range adjusting section 13 compares the present total distribution range of the apparatus 1 with the maximum distribution range. If the present total distribution range exceeds the maximum distribution range, the section 13 lowers the speed level of a client under connection or a lower-priority client under connection by one level until the present total distribution range does not exceed the maximum distribution range. If the total distribution range does not exceeds the maximum distribution range or if the present total distribution range turns to a state that it does not exceeds the maximum distribution range, the apparatus 13 updates the table 12 to update and hold the maximum distribution range, and requests a stream processing section 14 to distribute the stream data to the newly connected client in the speed level. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
