PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the vertical momentum from being reduced in an interlocking manner, even if the longitudinal momentum is reduced. SOLUTION: A sewing machine for blind stitching is equipped with: a fabric feeding mechanism which moves a fabric feed dog 29a in a looped orbit by driving the feed dog 29a in vertical and longitudinal synchronization; vertical driving mechanism 1 for moving the feed dog 29a vertically; and a longitudinal driving mechanism 2 which is driven separately from the mechanism 1 so as to move the feed dog 29a longitudinally. The vertical momentum provided by the mechanism 1 is kept approximate constant, and the longitudinal momentum provided by the mechanism 2 is made variable. A longitudinal momentum adjusting mechanism 7 is provided so that the longitudinal momentum provided by the mechanism 2 can be adjusted between an advance side and a retreat side. A mechanism 8 for setting the longitudinal momentum at zero is provided so that the longitudinal momentum provided by the mechanism 2 can be instantaneously set at approximately zero.
