PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential feed sewing machine which enables an easy grasp on the degree of sewing progress in a manual mode. SOLUTION: This differential feed sewing machine is equipped with a display unit (17a) for displaying a plurality of sewing sections by using figures (section figures 175a-175h), a selector switch (step switch SW16) which is operated by an operator during sewing so as to provide switching between the sewing sections, and a display control means (MPU 10a) for changing the length of the displayed figure in accordance with the ratio of the length of each sewing section to the lengths of all the sewing sections. The position of the degree of the sewing advance is displayed on the displayed figure for each of the sewing sections, and the display of the position of the degree of the sewing advance is started at the operation of the selector switch. Thus, the operator can prevent a disparity between an actual sewing position and the position of the degree of the sewing advance, which is displayed, for example, according to a pitch and the number of stitches, even in the manual mode, and can accurately grasp the degree of the sewing advance.
