<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a persistent trace occurring by pressing on a panel in a liquid crystal display device of a vertical alignment system. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a 1st substrate and a 2nd substrate arranged to be faced to each other via a liquid crystal, 1st electrodes formed in a pixel area on the liquid crystal side surface of the 1st substrate, and 2nd electrodes formed in a pixel area on the liquid crystal side surface of the 2nd substrate, and the liquid crystal molecules are aligned vertically to the substrates in the state in which electric field is not generated between the 1st electrodes and the 2nd electrodes. The device has a means for intermittently applying voltage not exceeding 20% of the maximum voltage applied across the 1st and 2nd electrodes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
