PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decomposition-treating an organic halogen compound by heating a catalyst at an optimum temperature in advance for efficiently promoting the catalytic reaction so as not to generate dioxins, etc., from the organic compound completing the catalytic reaction on its cooling process.

SOLUTION: This apparatus for decomposition-treating the organic halogen compound comprises a bottom part having a heating means 16 for heating the organic halogen compound, a supplying means 17 for supplying air to the vaporized organic halogen compound by heating, a catalyst layer 14 for promoting the reaction of the organic halogen compound with air and a gas-washing means 19 for bringing the reaction gas in contact with a solvent to cool the generated reaction gas in the catalyst layer.
