CLOSED LOOP TRANSMIT DIVERSITY OF PTM PHYSICAL CHANNELS

PURPOSE: A closed loop transmit diversity of PtM(Point to Multipoint) physical channels is provided to support the PtM channels in a wireless communication system. CONSTITUTION: A transmitting antenna array having a plurality of antenna elements(381-38N) is provided at one transmitting point. Channel information for each antenna element is measured at each reception point. Antenna adjustments are determined using measured channel information. Measured channel information from all of the users is correlated to determine weighting factors for each antenna element. The weighting factors are applied to PtM point transmission prior to being radiated by each antenna element. It is determined whether the weighting factors should be applied to the antenna elements(381-38N). If the weighting factors should not be applied, it is determined whether transmission diversity should be turned off or whether the prior weighting values should be applied.
