<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front-light and a backlight capable of improving uneven brightness. <P>SOLUTION: A punctiform light B from a light-emitting diode is reflected and diffused with a prism 19 of a light guide pipe 18 to convert it to a linear light B. The linear light B is converted to a plane light with a light guide plate. The sum of an incident angle θ<SB>1</SB>or a reflecting angle θ<SB>2</SB>of the light B incident into the prism 19 and a refracting angle θ<SB>3</SB>of the light refracted by the prism 19 is to be smaller than 80° or larger than 100°. The sum of incident angle θ<SB>1</SB>or the reflecting angle θ<SB>2</SB>by the prism 19 and the refracting angle θ<SB>3</SB>is not to be 90°. Occurrence of a dark line at the light guide plate by the light B reflected and diffused by the prism 19 can be alleviated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
