<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent flickering and to suppress variation in fixing temperature by a phase control method when the ignition timing for the fixing phase comes after lighting of a lamp in an image forming apparatus carrying out phase control of a fixing system and an illumination system. <P>SOLUTION: Investigation of which ignition timing of a fixing control signal or an illumination control signal precedes and comparison of difference ▵T between the fixing temperature and the target temperature with a specified value T2 is carried out. When the lamp precedes and also when the value is smaller than T2, a control means is provided to ignite the fixing means at the ignition timing of the illumination means to prevent the flickering and the variation in the fixing temperature. Phase control of fixing is not carried out when the condition above is not performed. When ▵T= fixing temperature - target temperature < T2 and the lamp precedes, phase control is carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
