PURPOSE: To provide a safe rail rolling stock which absorbs impact energy. CONSTITUTION: A front unit 100 is located at a front end of a car body. Its floor comprises a hollow member 210 consisting of a buffer unit 200. The buffer unit comprises an upper and a lower buffer unit 200, 200. An annealed hollow member is used for the hollow member 210. A pushing-out direction of the hollow member 210 is a longitudinal direction of the car body. The longitudinal direction of the hollow member 210 is partitioned into two parts with a plate 220. Face plates 211, 212 of the both surfaces of the width direction of the hollow part 210 are jointed with plates 223 to 226. When the impact load is applied, the hollow member 210 is deformed into a bellows shape and absorbs impact force. Since the longitudinal direction of the hollow member 210 is partitioned with the plate 210, it is not buckled into a dogleg shape, and continuously buckled into a bellows shape to absorb a large amount of energy.
