<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus, etc., which correct color misregistration while improving throughput, when forming a color image by superimposing images of distinct colors. <P>SOLUTION: The face periods of a rotary polygon mirror is divided by the number of light beams in order to find subscanning time. The rotation period of an image carrier is divided by the subscanning time unit in order to find a remainder, and remaining time corresponding to the remainder is obtained.
