CARBON FIBER-CONTAINING COMPOSITE MEMBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber-containing composite member useful as an inexpensive large-area electron release source and a low friction material, etc.

SOLUTION: The carbon fiber-containing composite member is obtained by dispersing carbon fiber into a matrix and the top of the carbon fiber is protruded on the surface of the composite member. A carbon nano tube or a vapor-grown carbon fiber is preferably used as the carbon fiber. A method for producing the carbon fiber-containing composite member comprises mixing the carbon fiber with a melted resin and charging the mixture into a mold and moving the surface of the mold in parallel direction to the surface of the resin before solidification of the resin and controlling orientation of the carbon fiber in the resin.
