PHASE TRANSITION OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase transition optical recording medium which has wide recording margin characteristics and has excellent recursive recording durability.

SOLUTION: (1) The phase transition optical recording medium is constituted by forming at least a lower protective layer/recording layer/upper interface layer/upper protective layer/reflection layer in this order or in reverse order on a transparent substrate, in which the upper interface layer consists of the oxides of one or more kinds of the elements (precluding Zr) selected from the groups 2 to 14 of the third period to sixth period of periodic table. (2) The phase transition optical recording medium has a lower interface layer consisting of the oxides of the one or more elements (precluding Zr) selected from the groups 2 to 14 of the third period to sixth period of periodic table between the lower protective layer and the recording layer.
