<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a contribution to energy saving by significantly reducing hitherto wastefully consumed control power of a pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter. <P>SOLUTION: In the 2-level PWM inverter, two or more sets of circuits with two switches connected in series consisting of rectification elements are connected in reverse-parallel to switching elements includes and a method is taken for inserting dead time permitting no conduction into a PWM command signal. Further, a compensation method is used for preventing an output voltage drop due to the dead time. Of the switching elements connected in series, only the switching device or devices where the direction of output current passing through an output terminal meets the current passing direction of the switching element are switched, and the switching device or devices where they do not meet each other are not switched. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
