The cylindrical roller bearing (1) comprises an outer bush (2) and an inner bush (3) between which are cylindrical rollers (4). One of the bushes has lateral edges (5,6) constituting an axial stop for the rollers whilst on the other bush, which is hollowed outside the axial length of the rollers, is a groove (7,8) in which a ring (9,10) made of a spring material is inserted constituting an axial stop for the rollers. The ring does not have any interruption on it periphery. The V-shaped ring has two webs (11,12). An Independent claim is included for a method of assembling the roller bearing.
