<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which stand-by power is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a switching means (18, 14) that switches puls voltages after rectification and that inhibits generation of higher harmonic current on a commercial power source side, and also equipped with a switching pulse generating means (36, 32) that has the ability to generate a switching pulse to be supplied to the switching means through a plurality of different operating systems. The controller 11 determines the operating systems of the switching pulse generating means in accordance with the power consumption of the image forming apparatus, thereby operating the switching pulse generating means through the determined operating systems. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
