INTERFACING UNIT ALLOWING MPLS PACKET INTERWORKING BETWEEN CELL MODE MPLS LSR SYSTEM AND FRAME MODE MPLSLER/LSR SYSTEM AND INTERWORKING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An interfacing unit allowing an MPLS(Multi-Protocol Label Switching) packet interworking between a cell mode MPLS LSR(Label Switching Router) system and a frame mode MPLSLER(Label Edge Router)/LSR system and an interworking method therefor are provided to accomplish extensibility and economical efficiency by changing a frame mode MPLS packet to a cell MPLS packet and the cell mode MPLS packet to the frame mode MPLS packet. CONSTITUTION: A frame mode MPLS network(100) includes a frame mode LER system(102) positioned at an edge of a frame mode MPLS network(100) and directly accommodating a non-MPLS router(103), and a frame mode LER/LSR system(101) positioned at an edge or a core of the frame mode MPLS network(100). A cell mode MPLS network(110) includes an ATM LER system(112) positioned at an edge of the network(110) and directly accommodating a non-MPLS router and an ATM LSR system(111) positioned at a core of the network(110). The ATM LSR(111) has an LC-ATM(Label switching Controlled ATM) interface(112) for connection to the neighboring LSR/LER(101) of the frame mode MPLS network(100). The frame mode LER/LSR(101) has a frame mode ATM interface(104) for connection to a different LER/LSR of the network(100) and also for connection to the cell mode MPLS network(110).
