<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a method for correcting the color slippage in the apparatus which easily obtain a natural image even in the case of correcting the color slippage in an oblique direction. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: a mark formation control part 321 for forming a registration mark on a transfer belt 243 by image forming units 221 to 224 so as to detect the color slippage in the oblique direction of a toner image transferred onto a recording paper; a reflection type photosensor 245 for detecting the position of the registration mark formed on the transfer belt 243; a color slippage correction amount calculation control part 324 for calculating the color slippage correction amount in the oblique direction based on the detection signal outputted from the reflection type photosensor; and a color slippage correction control part 325 for switching an operation of reading each line of every color image data stored in a storage part 42 to another line in a halfway position which is set in accordance with the previously outputted color slippage correction amount in the oblique direction, and also, which is made differ for every color. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
