摘要 PURPOSE: A vehicle navigation system and a controlling method thereof are provided to calculate an azimuth and correct a present position by using a rotary angle of a steering wheel instead of a detected value of a gyro sensor. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle navigation system includes a steering wheel position detection unit, a tilt detection unit, and a control unit. The steering wheel position detection unit(150) detects a rotary angle of a steering wheel. The tilt detection unit(160) detects a tilt angle of the vehicle. The control unit(170) calculates a GPS signal, an azimuth of a gyro sensor, and a present position while the vehicle navigation system receives the GPS signal. The control unit calculates the azimuth, corrects the present position, and guides a traveling path by using the rotary angle of the steering wheel detected by the steering wheel position detection unit while the vehicle navigation system does not receive the GPS signal and the detected tilt angle is more than a setup value.
