PURPOSE: A method and a device for driving the scanning of a PC are provided to perform a scanning operation by automatically finding out a scanner driver to drive a scanner connected to the PC. CONSTITUTION: A scan request checker(40) checks that the scanning operation is requested and outputs a checking result as the first control signal. A connection checker(42) checks that the currently connected scanner is present by responding to the first control signal and outputs the checking result as the second control signal. An information extractor(44) extracts the ID information of the connected scanner by responding to the second control signal and outputs the ID information. A driver installation checker(46) checks that the scanner driver to drive the scanner representing the ID information is installed and outputs the checking result as the third control signal. A scanner driving part(48) loads the installed scanner driver by responding to the third control signal and performs the scanning operation of the connected scanner through the loaded driver.
