PURPOSE: Provided are a composition of the sterilizing agent and a sterilizing method using the same. The composition contains polyhexamethylene guanidine salt and zinc(2-pyridylthio-1-oxide), and thus inhibits the release of corrosive substances, has high sterilizing activity, maintains sterilization effect for a long time and has broad spectrum of antibacterial activity to bacteria and fungi. CONSTITUTION: A composition of the sterilizing agent is characterized by containing polyhexamethylene guanidine salt of the formula(1) and zinc(2-pyridylthio-1-oxide). In the formula, X is HCl, HBr, HNO3, acetic acid, benzoic acid, dehydroacetic acid, propionic acid, gluconic acid, sorbic acid, phosphate, fumaric acid, maleic acid, carbonic acid or epichlorohydrin acid, R1 is C1-20 linear or branched alkyl, phenyl, chlorophenyl, bromophenyl, iodophenyl, benzyl, chlorobenzyl, bromobenzyl, iodobenzyl, naphthyl or hydrogen, and n is an integer of 1-20.
