<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new diazonium salt and a recording material which has fixation sensitivity to light of wavelength 400-500 nm and excellent light fixation and preservability of raw sensitive material. <P>SOLUTION: The diazonium salt is represented by general formula (1) (R<SP>1</SP>is an acyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group, an alkylsulfonyl group, an arylsulfonyl group or a sulfamoyl group; R<SP>2</SP>is an alkyl group or an aryl group; R<SP>3</SP>-R<SP>6</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, a monofunctional substituted group (at least one of R<SP>3</SP>-R<SP>6</SP>is -N<SB>2</SB><SP>+</SP>X<SP>-</SP>); X<SP>-</SP>is an anion).
