Use of cobalt as a heterocoupling catalyst between an aryl (pseudo)halide and a derivative comprising a double bond and a parting group in the vinyl, allyl or homoallyl position by contact in a solvent with a metal at least as strongly reducing as zinc. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) composition (C1) comprising at least a cobalt salt, a conducting solvent, a cobalt coordinator and a derivative having a double bond and a leaving group; and (2) electrolytic procedure using an aryl and a derivative having a double bond and a leaving group comprising reacting (C1) (further comprising a (pseudo)halogen) with a metal more strongly reducing than zinc.
