<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup unit that enables a wide area to be photographed from a plurality of image pickup sections, that brings an improved picture quality, and that makes miniaturization of the unit possible. <P>SOLUTION: The image pickup unit 20 is structured such that it is equipped with a plurality of image pickup sections 1 having an imager 3 and a front lens 2; that the adjacent image pickup sections 1 are arranged in a manner that their image pickup areas are overlapped on each other; that, in this overlapping direction, a cross section is taken passing through the view point center, imager 3 and the front lens 2, with a conditional expression AL<fd (1) satisfied where A is a sectional length of the imager 3, D is a sectional length of the front lens 2, L is a distance from the front lens 2 to the imager 3, and f is a focal length with the entire lenses synthesized in the image pickup sections 1 including the front lens 2; and that the view point center of each image pickup section 1 is arranged to be in a sphere of 20 mm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
